Charlie, Shao Tiancheng, has arthrogryposis (multiple joint abnormalities) affecting primarily his legs, feet, arms, hands, and fingers. He possibly also has a central nervous system defect. Charlie has been bed-ridden most of his life, and is unable to stand or walk. He has the potential with prolonged therapy to improve his mobility. He will require adaptive equipment for most normal daily tasks. Charlie is happy and friendly, and seems to have normal intelligence.
